People from all over the world visit Govardhan Parikrama on daily basis or on special occasions like Guru Purnim, Govardhan Puja or Purusottamamasa and over a 5 Lakhs devotees go around the religious hill. Govardhan Parwat has a Parikrama of around 14 Miles or 21 Kilometers and it takes approx. 5-6 hours to complete by foot while ‘Dandwat’ Parikrama may take weeks or sometimes even months to complete. The dandavata Parikrama is performed by standing in a spot and than lying flat on the ground like danda (stick) .

The devotee than mark the spot upon earth where the fingertips touch the ground. Standup move to the marked spot and than perform the same action again and again. In this way repeating the action of standing, laying and marking again and again completes the Parikrama around the hill. Some Devotees or saints completes 108 or desired Dandwat Parikrama by offering honors in one spot before moving further and this may take number of months to complete. Some devotees who resides in or near by Govardhan performas Parikrama on daily basis.
